Pastor David & Gaynell Smith
Founding Pastors
Pastor David Smith is a native Californian who from a young age gave his heart to Christ and felt a call to ministry. At age 20, he enlisted in the Air Force, where he later served 18 months in the Philippines. From there, he was transferred to Goodfellow Air Force Base in San Angelo where he met Gaynell, a native San Angeloan. They were married and began an exciting life of ministry together.
After serving various ministry roles, David and Gaynell felt God leading them to plant a new church in San Angelo, thus Word of Life was born. Thirty years later, the church still flourishing! Our precious Pastor David went to be with the Lord January 13, 2024. Pastors David and Gaynell have been married 42 years, have two adult sons - David Jr. and Jason - and four grandchildren.
